About us
Bharatverseh is an independent, English-language digital news publication for readers in India. We report on politics, elections, courts, rights and governance: the places where power is used, and where it should be questioned.
Why we started
Too much political news in India arrives as a claim without a document, a leak without a source, or a press release reprinted as fact. Readers are asked to trust. We think they should be able to check.
So we built Bharatverseh around one rule: every story links the court order, government notice, affidavit, parliamentary answer or official record it rests on. If we cannot show you the basis for a claim, we tell you that too.
What we do differently
- Documents first. Each story ends with a "Read the documents yourself" box linking primary sources.
- Open questions in public. When the authorities have not answered something important, we list it under "Questions still unanswered", and we update the story when an answer comes.
- No paid news. No one can pay to place, change or remove a story. Read our transparency promise.
- Corrections in the open. Mistakes are fixed visibly and logged on our corrections page.
- Fairness. We question governments and oppositions alike, and give those we report on a fair chance to respond.
