Sangrur to Chandigarh

He joined the Aam Aadmi Party in March 2014 and won the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat that May by more than two lakh votes. He lost the 2017 assembly contest in Jalalabad to Sukhbir Singh Badal and held Sangrur in 2019. The AAP named him its Chief Minister candidate in January 2022, won 92 of the 117 seats, and he was sworn in on 16 March 2022 at Khatkar Kalan.

Disputes

In January 2026 the Akal Takht summoned him over alleged anti-Sikh conduct, and in June it declared him "Guru Dokhi" and "Khalsa Panth Virodhi" over a video. Mann said he was not the person in it and that the footage was fake. His government has also pursued a case over 328 missing saroops of the Guru Granth Sahib, which the SGPC called an attack on its independence.

He has faced repeated opposition claims that he was drunk in public office, in 2016, 2022 and 2026, and has denied each one.

His 2022 affidavit declares one pending case, from a protest in Chandigarh in 2020, and no convictions. He declares assets of about Rs 2 crore.
