From the Congress to the BJP
He was a member of the Congress before joining the BJP in 2016, and he led the party's Tripura unit from 2020 to 2022. In April 2022 he was elected to the Rajya Sabha. A month later Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb resigned, and Saha was sworn in on 15 May 2022. He left the Rajya Sabha after winning the Town Bardowali assembly by-election in June 2022.
Second term
The BJP retained Tripura in the 2023 election, and Saha won Town Bardowali again. In a February 2023 interview with The Week, asked about claims that the government was targeting opponents, he said "revenge politics" had a long history in the state and that he had told party workers to stop it.
His 2023 affidavit declares no criminal cases and assets of about Rs 13.9 crore. We have not found any case or court finding against him.
